Faster charging and discharging

LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries can be charged much faster than traditional batteries, ready to deliver full power quickly.  They also provide higher speed discharging so they can deliver more power in a shorter period of time. They are ideal for solar energy storage, RVs and caravans, camping, home energy storage and uninterruptible backup power systems.

Access full energy capacity

LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries can deliver all their energy capacity and go below 20% State Of Charge (SOC) with no issues unlike traditional batteries that are recommended to be maintained above 70% to 80% SOC to retain their life cycles. LFP batteries have a very low self-discharge rate and can be stored for long periods with no issues. They do not need trickle or float chargers like traditional batteries.

Battery Management System

LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries have a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that ensures the battery is always operating within the designed specifications. This makes LFP batteries very safe, long life and minimal maintenance. The BMS monitors the individual cells within the battery and balances them, making sure they each have the same voltage and are being used evenly across the battery. The BMS also monitors temperature, current and voltage for overcharge detection, over discharge detection, over current detection, and short circuit detection to ensure the battery is maintained as designed. Traditional lead-acid and AGM batteries do not have built-in Battery Management Systems.

Reputable brand

Buying a reputable brand of LiFePO4 (LFP) battery has many benefits. Most importantly, they use high A-Grade cells and a good quality Battery Management System (BMS). While there is not a defined specification for A-Grade cells, every manufacturing facility has a cell defect rate they want to minimise. The defective cells have a lower capacity and/or lower cycle lifetime and other issues; they are sold as lower cost B-Grade or C-Grade cells and are used in cheaper, low quality batteries.
